anyone used Raspi compute module and Compute IO

Has anyone experimented with the Raspi Compute system as the SBC
I/O module plus Compute module (other versions are available)
My thoughts are to use this setup as it will allow the SBC to be powered from 12V and need no SD Card as it has inbuilt eMMC.
Any Thoughts

waiting for stock; but can't see why it wouldn't work.
it worked on a similar setup with the cm3
edit: i'd probably prefer nvme ssd over emmc as the emmc is a tad trickier to replace if worn out (google tesla and emmc for a epic example of wearing out flash with log files)

I have one on Backorder from RS in the UK due for delivery on the 8th for the CM IO board and a 2GB 32GB eMMC board is due for delivery before then.
My hope is that with the eMMC it should hopefully be more resilient to power cycles also the face that unless you use the PCI-e socket then you can use input voltages as high as 26V which should be easier to manage rather than having to supply a 5V USB-C type charger.Hopefully I can figure out how to flash the eMMC with the DuetPi image and then configure it to accept all the updates.
I know it is considerably larger footprint to the std Pi 4 but I do have room on the Jubilee Backplate to accommodate it.

I ordered this and will report back. That will also be my testbed for f2fs and zramswap experiments which should take care of any wear leveling issues.

It sounds feasible but to be safe I would check once again if the expansion pins have 3.3V levels before connecting the Duet.

FYI, I’d love to see a compute module interface in the next Duet3.1 boards. Snapping a Pi compute to a duet 3 board would be awesome.
But then again, I also like all the USB options... so maybe, maybe not. Would be cool to integrate all the standard RPi ports into the 3 and sell it as the Duet3 Pi single board solution.

We looked at doing this when we designed Duet 3, but the cost of putting all the expected RPi I/O connectors on the Duet would have been very high, even if we did manage to find space for all of them.
