IdeaMaker - Extrude Before Start Setting!
-
I'm using ideamaker for slicing for years now, Lately, I built a large 3D printer with a 0.8mm nozzle. I have noticed that the perimeters are not completely closed, this is because of the filament is extruded late at the beginning of the perimeter.
My question is, is there a setting in ideamaker to let the extruder extrude earlier before the start of a perimeter? this way I can a closed perimeter.

@alielsayid also sounds like you might need some pressure advance if it's not just on your first layer. (Edit: in your printer config, not the slicer)

We'd need to see more of your config and print settings to have a better idea of how to improve. A photo of what you're seeing would help as well. You've received two pieces of advice based on guessing what you're talking about. The more info you provide the better we can assist.

i have the same issue with ideamaker . using S3D this does not happen .
for some reason it will always under extrude at the start of perimeter .
easy workaround is to set retraction on layer change and then add extra restart distance to the retraction.
i dont know the reason for this , other slicers work ok. -
@hackinistrator Try creating geometry for a 1-pass 1-layer square and slice it with all the slicers you use and compare the GCODE.
It will just be four G1 codes. The coordinates should be identical and (everything else being identical,) the extrude amounts should be identical.
Of course they will not be, and there you'll learn more about what's going on.
And we will also if you post the GCODE.

@alielsayid, what is your layer printing order? If you start with the outer perimeter after layer change it can take some time to get primed back. Try to set the slicer to print first the infill or the non external perimeter.

i did a simple square , single line .
its not just simple 4 line gcode .
both compensate for corners and changing width .s3d starts with the corner with small extrusions .
IM - starts straight line full on.
i cannot move the start point of s3d to the middle of the line to generate same under extrusion at the start. -
@hackinistrator WOW! Those are crazy files for a simple square.
Do you have pressure advance or wiping or something turned on?
Can you post the STL?
I couldn't get Simplify to print just one line, but it at least just prints 8 lines with 8 G1 moves.
(Rename this Square.factory to use it. It's not an STL file. Just to get around upload requirements.)
SquareFactory.stl -
i had "single extrusion walls" in S3D and and "fill gaps in shells" enabled in IM . thats why the corners were "complicated".
i'll test again both slicers without those settings tomorrow .
