Toolboard Stepper Driver mapping
-
Just curious if it is currently possible in the tool board firmware to use the stepper driver to drive a non extruder stepper motor?
-
@R3D yes, you can map the drive to any axis you want. There are some limitations on endstops; the endstop must be connected to the board that drives the axis, currently, and only type 8 (unfiltered switch) and 9 (BLTouch) endstop types are supported.

That's what I figured but wanted to make sure before I finish wiring up my lift axis.
Thanks for the quick response BTW

Bear in mind the restriction that if you use a Z probe, the Z motors must be connected to the Duet 3 main board.

Actually the restriction is narrower than that: an endstop switch connected to the main board cannot stop a motor on an expansion board unless a main board motor is also moving in that homing move.

I do have my Z motors wired to the Mainboard but I have the Z-probe wired to a tool board, and all of the motors driven by the tool boards are using sensorless homing.
Thanks for the clarification @DC42

I'm sorry, sensorless homing doesn't work on expansion and tool boards yet.
