Its safe to move a Duet v2 to firmware 3.x
-
Hi,
I have a Delta with a Duet v2....
I was waiting to development of firmware v3 x was more tested ... is it recommended to make the firmware change?
I read some time ago that you had to make changes to config.g. is there any guide, wiki link, or anywhere where the upgrade instructions come from?
Any advice, recommendation from whoever tried it?

imho wait for 3.01 release (quite soon(tm)) to be tested a good week or two then consider upgrading to it.

Thanks.....
Your answer like the films. .. 2 fast, 2 furious..

Its just my opinion; if you need the printer to just-work(tm) its too soon to upgrade.
And more likely than not, if you had the time to stay current with the development then you'd already have the answers you were looking for.

I'd say give it a month and it should be much easier to move over for the average person.

I just did the move and to redo the config for my custom IDEX machine with a Duex5, DHT sensors, Filament sensors, a bunch of fans, BLTouch, etc... took about 6 hours to redo the config.g, BLT scripts, macros, etc... Seemed to work out of the gate! I am on 3.01 RC12 and it seems solid.

HEY! WHO ARE YOU CALLING AVERAGE??!?
I've been lightly stroking my finger on the trigger, but assuming {AHEM} RC12 is the last ...
I guess I'll wait for the final release since I'm running fine now thanks to all the kind people here.
