Question about non linear extrusion and pressure advance
-
Hi
at the moment I use filament specific e-steps in the filament config that were measured through extruding.
If I want to use those features, are those e-steps values usable, or do I need to calibrate without the Bowden setup?
Thanks -
I would suggest setting your esteps value based on a single filament at a slow feed rate, and then using the flow control in the slicer to fine tune it. If you want to do it per filament you can use the M221 extrusion factor to scale it up and down to suit.

This is how I would recommend calibrating the extruder: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/Ender+3+Pro+and+Duet+Maestro+Guide+Part+4:+Calibration/40#s165
I would hesitate to use non-linear extrusion unless you're positive you have under extrusion at high feed rates. Even then, this is typically due to a temp too low to sustain the volumetric feed rate requested, though it may depend on your filament as well.
Tune your pressure advance first without it and if you still think you need non-linear extrusion, tune that with no pressure advance applied and then re-tune pressure advance with non-linear extrusion active.
