Control non ATX power by PS_ON output
-
Hi,
Any views on using a separate 5V PSU (already powering an RPI) in the BigBox and a relay module to power the main 24V PSU by PS_ON?
Since the relay module wants high on CH1 to trigger I wire it to permanent 5V then wire PS_ON to GND on the module. I have tested this on a breadboard to work.

How about a DC-AC SSR with the control terminals connected between +5V and PS_ON? I haven't tried it yet, but I think it should work.
Some relay modules have optically-isolated inputs. Those could also have the input connected between +5V and PS_ON.

I dont have any SSRs laying around. But this relay is opto isolated. Think I'll give it a try and can replace it with an SSR if it does not work.

I am using this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E0NTPP4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Wired like you have it strips and it works great!
