How much current can we draw on io_x DUET 3
-
How much current can we draw on the 5V pin of a IO_x of a DUET 3 EXP3HC ?
Can I use this pin to power a RC servo that may draw 0.65A ? -
@steevebecker
Not official here, but might depend on what else you are powering. I thought there was a 3A total limit on the 5V including Raspberry Pi and Dotstar.Might check documentation in those areas or the forum posts about powering the Pi from the Duet.

Can I use this pin to power a RC servo that may draw 0.65A ?If you are already powering a RPi from the Duet, then another 0.65A may be a little too much. In standalone mode, not a problem.

Is that the same on an Expansion board David as there won't be a Pi on that?

The 5V regulator on an expansion board is rated at 1A total. The MCU takes about 0.1A.
Note, large servos dump power into the +5V rail when they decelerate. The internal 5V rail on the expansion board (and the Duet 3 main board) are protected against over-voltage, but could damage anything else that you connect to the 5V outputs.
