STEPPER AND HOMING PROBLEMS
-
Well motor phase error and stealth chop error are seperate problems.
The stealthchop thing was from the configuration.
The motor phase error is saying that the motor phases as wired are incorrect. You'll have to identify the correct pairs of wires and swap the wire positions in the plug.
There are two methods of identifying the motor phase pairs in that link. Did you try both of them?
-
@Phaedrux funny thing is, i only put new board connectors on x,y. z axis homes just fine....z was not involved in what i was doing. the board connector wiring is the same on x,y as it is on z. this just gets curiouser and curiouser. I'm going to call it quits for tonight. Try again tomorrow.

can you post picture of the cable connection on the stepper and the duet.
also please post the model number of your stepper drivers. -
Can i make a general suggestion. Can you please keep a log of the changes you are doing.
This will allow you to better retrace your step on changes you have made.
So if your printer was working a week ago, you made some changes, and then realised its not working anymore that you can revert those changes. -
@Veti standard folgertech nema 17, 1.8 degree. 5kg/cm, 1.5a![alt text](image url)20191106_095244.jpg

@swrightlast
the image did not upload -
@Veti i couldn't get one of the images to load...still working on it. I'll reload the one that did load.
-
for others this seems to be the datasheet
https://folgertech.com/products/nema17-17-stepper-motor-36oz-in-2600g-cm-3d-printer-reprap-medel-prusa-1 -
@Veti yep, that's my stepper. i still cannot get the image of my board wiring to upload. both were jpg, taken at the same time. anyway, my stepper wiring at the board, from left to right is red, gray, yellow, green.
-
you could try and post it somehwere else and link it. like
https://imgur.com/ -
-
from the spec of the motor i read that yellow and red should be one phase and green and grey.
if that is true. your wiring is incorrect.
-
@Veti my z wiring is the same, and it functions fine.
-
what is the resistance between the
red and yellow
green and yellow.
cables -
@Veti I get no reading on either one
-
just to make sure. you measured while the cable is plugged into the motor?
is there any resistance between the yellow cable and any other cable?
can you check directly on the pins of the motor? -
@Veti
green/yellow: 2.4 ohm
red/gray: 2.4 ohm
measured directly on motor pins
rechecked at board ends.....no ohmage (sic).....bad crimps or break in wire someplace? -
@swrightlast said in STEPPER AND HOMING PROBLEMS:
green/yellow: 2.4 ohm
so you had no resistance with the cable. this suggest that the cable is broken.
-
@Veti I have new cables coming....check back on this post next week. Thanks everyone for all your help so far.
