New Duet Owner Z issues etc.

Good evening folks... First time poster.
So a friend of mine just sold me a duet wifi, so Ive been spending some time setting it up.
I have a CR10, so it took a bit of work.
I am NOT smart haha, but with a lot of help from friends, I may have gotten close.ok this is a bit of a weird question too... Before I set my Z position to 0, i had it set to 400... when I had it set to 400, i could use the UI to send. -25 to the printer, sending it up to 375
However now that i set Z to 0 I cant use the +25 or +5 or whatever without the Z drilling in to the end stop.
I cant use minus or plus, once its at Zero... all bad.Also, it seems when I test a print, my Z doesnt seem to move up much, if at all.
- Over extrusion... I am using a .5 nozzle and its working well, but it seems WAYYY to overextruded. I havent done a calibration... I will need to do that, just looking for the best way.

I'm configuring a CR-10 with Duet Wifi I'm learning but I think I can help you.
Your Z step is wrong, if is a stock CR-10 it should be Z.400, change it and see if is better.
What extruder are you using?
If is the stock extruder the starting steps should be E93.00, and then do a calibration.I'm using the SEEMECNC EZR STRUDER and I have E119.88
The E420.00 is for a 3:1 gear reduction extruder like a Bondtech or a TitanHere is my config.g

They are for an Ender 3 and Duet Maestro, but the CR-10 and Duet Wifi is very similar for setup.

so your extrusion multiplier seemed to be spot on.. ill roll with that..
changed the Z400 as well.i dont know why, but my Z is not going up between layers... the stepper is moving for the first layer or two, but then as soon as it moves (i can see the stepper move) it basically rocks back in to its current Z position. Obviously it should go up, (steppers move counter clockwise) each layer, but after 1-2 layers, it rocks back and ends up not moving up at all.
thoughts on that odd behavior? -
@dunginhawk does the z axis work if you manually run it all the way up?

Its just so weird... the first 2 layers seem to go fine, maybe the third too... after that it starts rocking back and forth. like it increments up the layer, then drops.

it may be stripped out my coupler... because my threaded rod is rising... ordered some new couplers. will test wednesday
