Posting Pictures and Video on the forum
-
Seems like we should ask forum administrators to enable picture uploads to this forum instead of other sites
-
I have it in my list to investigate
-
upload the images to postimg.org, there is bar in the right, switch to "direct link", then put
[img]https://s17.postimg.org/d3cw7sw3z/IMG_0743.jpg[/img]
subing that link for yours…
Does that apply to video as well using the "address here"

I'm not sure, but you could post a link to YouTube…
Personally I think it's better (reduces server load) to have people use image hosting... And

True but bandwidth and space are cheap and don't forget postimage very nearly shut down last month https://blog.postimage.org/2016/10/30/postimage-needs-your-help/ so you always risk a forum without images if you don't host your own.
-
Hosting images on Dropbox also works but when pasting the link you need to replace the ?dl=0 at the end by ?raw=1.
-
For video YouTube is the way to go…I will look at different image options.

What did we come up with for including images into our posts? I see them on post in the new printers section but can't figure it out for myself. Thanks for the help…

The best bet for images is to use an external service like imgur, dropbox, etc then use the image tags to insert it eg:
[[language]] [img] http://i.imgur.com/example.jpg [/img]
tag to insert them
Its on my to do list to add secure, abuse safe image impload to this forum but its that high on the list right now I am afraid.

The only problem with dropbox (or onedrive etc..) is that you really need to be prepared to host the image forever, otherwise very useful posts with vital diagrams within them will not exist if you close your account, move the files etc…
Whilst postimage is very useful and seems to work it would also be a great shame if it disappeared for the same reasons.
This forum ought to be able to accept image uploads, and perhaps like reprap.org could limit the image size to keep the storage requirements reasonable (although if possible some automatic means of resizing or lowering image quality would save users a great deal of time). Ps. On reprap to resize quickly, I got this program for windows http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/ which gives you a right click option to resize images to a size you know will be accepted, and can automatically replace the original image or save it as a copy.

Let's chat more about this over email.
