Problem with the screw terminal from the hotend connection
-
usually headers are 2.54, 3.81 or 5.08mm (0.1", 0.15" and 0.2") and I'm pretty sure its not 2.54 and 5.08mm
kicad sources are available here https://github.com/T3P3/Duet/tree/master/Duet2/Duet2v1.04
edit: i used these on my duet 2 maestro https://uk.farnell.com/phoenix-contact/mc-1-5-2-g-3-81/header-right-angle-3-81mm-2way/dp/3704725?MER=sy-me-pd-mi-acce

Do I see that correctly that you have solved it with a plug connection? I also have something like this on my ethernet.
-
I replaced the screw terminals with pluggable terminals yeah, but you should be able to fit any 3.81mm terminal.
-
I find pluggable terminals better are screw terminals. The cable then only once screwed
-
More convenient yeah, but not always possible to find reasonably priced pluggable connectors with sufficient current rating; but these aren't too pricy and good for 8A.

On Duet 3 we have switched to JST VH connectors. We'll probably do that on Duet 2 when we do the next design refresh, if our OEMs are happy to change their wiring looms.
-
Do you have a picture of the new connections you used in Duet 3? And what is the name of those currently installed for the hotends.
-
They're a bit "oddball" at 3.96mm pitch, so they won't fit the Duet 2. But just google JST VH, plenty of pics.
(Edit: Pins are also thicker) -
Correct, I've just verified that you can't get a JST VH connector into the holes for the hot end terminal block in a Duet 2 PCB, because the pins are too large and the hole separation is wrong.
Most 2-way 3.81mm pitch terminal blocks should fit the Duet 2.

Someone recently mentioned wago spring Drogen connectors Here, maybe they're a nice idea for a home conversion ...
