Duet3d Laser Filament Monitor
-
I recently have added the Duet Laser Filament Monitor Ver 2.0 to my Duet Wifi(1.04) . Firmware version 2.03beta. When I power up I get the 3 green flashes. When I run a print for calibration my % min and max are zero. I have red flash and green flash but no percentages. Green doesn't appear to flash any more frequent when black ABS filament is being extruded. My custom code in my config.g file is M591 Do P5 C3 R10:300 E3.0 S0. I have checked and rechecked all connections, power. Not sure what I am missing or if I have a defective laser. Not sure of the power but doesn't appear to be very bright/strong. Appears very dim. Printed bracket/enclosure is black abs.

Any one able to help with this?

I believe that the laser is infa red, so will not be visible. Take care not to look at the laser directly. I have been finding that the indirect housing works well. I have an 1.01 board, and found that dc42 suggestion to use the lcd_conn input also works really well - check out the most recent posts on the 'Indirect (bearing) laser filament monitor concept' thread.

Have you tried any other filaments? Black PLA works OK or me but I've not tried black ABS, which I suspect is less shiny. If the sensor is working then you should definitely see an increase in the rate of green flashes when filament is running through the sensor.

@dc42 No difference with the PLA. Filastruder told me that if Admin on this forum deems a replacement necessary that they would. I am not sure what else I need to do to get it to at least sense any at all. This is my result during calibration attempt.
Duet3D laser filament monitor v2 on input 3, disabled, allow 10% to 300%, check every 3.0mm, current pos 0.0, brightness 62, shutter 121, quality 223, measured min 0% avg 0% max 0% over 135.9mm -
Can you give me any direction? I don’t understand the what the values reported mean. I have seen posts referencing report of angle? But I don’t see any of that maybe I am missing something

@ahoward7652, I think either your sensor is defective or it can't see the filament at all. I suggest you remove the sensor board from the housing, then hold a surface (e.g. paper) a few mm above the top surface and see if the rate of green flashes increases when you move that surface around. If it doesn't change at all, ask Filastruder for a replacement.

@dc42 Ok Thank you I will try that.

I found that my bracket housing was off just a tiny bit. Had to shave a bit of the window back and worked perfectly
