While I suspect the Duet is the issue, if it works when everything is disconnected as pr above you can refer to this thread on how to test if the pins on the pi are working as they should. But I wouldn't spend any time on that before you have a Duet board with a steady 1hz flashing red DIAG LED.

There are normally three specified tool change macros (any of which can contain no commands if desired) that execute in this order:

Actions to do with the old tool before it is released - macro name: tfreeN.g where N is the tool number; Actions to do with the new tool before it is selected - macro name: tpreN.g where N is the tool number; Actions to do with the new tool after it is selected - macro name: tpostN.g where N is the tool number.

So you can have a macro to execute before tool is release, before is selected and after it is selected, same thing for every tool, called automatically, you just make files tfree0.g tfree1.g tfree2.g tpre0.g tpre1.g ... put stuff in ... and enjoy 😄 .. so when S3D sends T1 the RRF will execute tfreeX (where X is whatever was before T1) etc etc..

That is really useful. I can put the g-code scripts that I use for dual filament prints into these macros and not need to bother with what slicer I am using. Awesome! The scripts that I wrote for S3D and dual filament deliver the goods. CURA scripting is terrible and the outcome seems totally random. I have to try now. 😁

@dlc60 By 'print directly from the console on the printer', do you mean you are using a PanelDue or 12864 display? Neither should disconnect the web interface, so something is not quite right. Please post the Maestro firmware version (M115) and PanelDue (if that's what you're using) firmware version, and the DWC version.

If you're using a 12864, what menu system are you using?

That might be the --app parameter that does that. Interesting learned something new today!

Might have been missing an IAP file from one of the previous versions. There is a complete zip file with the main releases that contains everything needed. Usually best to go with that rather than the singular bin files.

are you not able to access the printer using its name? default to duet i think.

try these (or replace duet with whatever you have in M550)

as the others have alluded to you can try setting a reservation, but typically routers that do not have predictable mapping from MAC address to IP also doesn't support reservations, or local DNS - however with a bit of luck mDNS works on your computer (if its a windows machine, installing apple printer support can help make mDNS work

that didn't make much sense, with the configuration you showed the board would only take the IP offered by the router.

but if works, lets not beat a dead horse!

OK, so I've found a work around but I'll leave it as unsolved for now. When I hit the "Change visibility" button, I saw that extruder 3 was not ticked. So I ticked that and extruder 3 appeared but at the bottom of the list. Then I unticked them all, and reselected them one by one, starting with zero and working up to 5. They now show in that order on the status page. So my best guess is that they show up on the status page in the order that they are made visible. But the "default" visibility when DWC 3.1.1. is first installed seems to be somewhat random.
