I was mostly looking to see if anyone in the community had already done some work on the last two bullet points you mentioned.

You right pictures or redrawing is probably the best route at the moment.

What firmware version on the Duet and the PanelDue?

Can you post your config file?

Is it configured as heater 0 is the bed and heater 1 is the hotend?

Can you control the temp via DWC at all?

Okay I got it to work. I was powering off the Duet after erasing and resetting the panel, which gives the white screen state. In this state, it does not seem to work.

What did work.

With the Duet powered on and plugged into the panel hold the erase button on the panel for a few seconds press the reset button on the panel DO NOT power cycle the Duet The panel will remain on, displaying as usual Bossa will now recognize the panel via it's serial port Upload the new panel firmware as usual via Bossa When complete, unplug the usb from the panel and power cycle the printer.

The colours on PanelDue mimic the colours used in DWC, i.e. a bright colour (yellow or orange) when the axis is not homed, to alert you to that fact.

The file always shows up before and after power cycle on the panel due but sometimes it will loose the info for the file...

Firmware 2.01 should be able to access the second SD card. To access it you need to mount it, either explicitly by sending M21 P1 or implicitly by changing to the second SD card in the DWC or PanelDue file list page.

Bad colours on a 7 inch non-integrated PanelDue usually mean that the firmware for a 5" screen or an integrated 7 inch screen has been installed. Recent versions of PanelDue firmware have red, green and blue colour gradients on the Setup page, to help you check that the colours are correct.

I think the best course of action is to have RRF only output one message, and subsequent identical messages are suppressed.

This should be a rule of thumb for any system that can possibly generate messages from a function that have automatic retries.

(And as already written somewhere for DWC, here for the PanelDue, for Z, could the up&down arrows be changed to "|> -z <| "(bring together) and "|< +z >|"(spread apart) because in my setup with a "ultimaker-style-gantry" the "up-arrow" equals to "plate-down" and vice versa and that is risky to one day sooner or later doing it wrong...)

I'm all for mending things rather than throwing them away!

On a related note, the other problem I have seen is the backlight inverter failing on the 7" panel (non-integrated version). A few months ago I managed to track down the part number of that chip, and I added it to the Spare Parts page of the wiki.

The method I mentioned above of putting the Duet SD card into the PC and adding the macro for the network doesn't require the PanelDue keyboard at all, the macro would show up on the PanelDue macro menu.
