Yes, if the main board is a Duet 3 series board (including Duet 3 Mini) and the motor is a 1.8deg (or higher) motor with an encoder pulses per revolution of at least 1000 (transitions per revolution at least 4000).

Which axis or extruder does the driver control?

Does the HS557 driver provide an error output that the Duet could monitor?

Another possibility is that daemon.g is starting before the tools & monitors are defined

In your config.g put in a global to stop the daemon code executing
This will also help when you need to edit daemon.g
So at the start of config.g

if !exists(global.runDaemon) global runDaemon = false else set global.runDaemon = false

Then at the start of daemon.g put

while true if global.runDaemon = false M99 ;rest of code

Forgot to say, at the end of config.g put

set global.runDaemon=true

You will have to rename daemon.g before you can edit and save it, then rename it back again

Yes, just swap the ENA+ and ENA- connections over.

@Lexan yes to controlling from the toolboard. you'd either have to run a separate 5v cable or mount a stepdown converter on the toolhead
