I think that's the story of most DBots. It's a good starting platform for customization.

Good luck with the wiring. My suggestion is to do everything right the first time, because once it's in there you will loathe to take it all down again to redo something. Ask me how I know.

You could include M106 P# S1 in config.g, where # is the fan number, although this wouldn't prevent it from being turned off again.

@dc42 I had used a different guide that more or less said the same thing. I'll try going through it again tonight as I was abit rushed when doing it. Was just wondering if there was anything more in depth.

Yes in a core xy with a moving bed if z0 is nozzle touching the bed then dropping the down would increase the z value in the positive direction.

Youll have to reserve a motor direction. And ensure your maxima and minima are correct. And may need to modify the homing files if they were dropping the bed before moving in x and y.

Gotcha. I guess I'm having trouble accepting that it's broken because I'm pretty sure it was working when I originally plugged everything in and the only thing I've done since then was snip off the molex connector and extend the wires. I've checking my crimp splices and everything seems to be good on that front so I guess the only option left is that it's broken.

Yes it's the same as Cartesian.

Select 2(Z) in the configurator, but in the config.g file that it generates change the M584 line to read:

M584 X0 Y1 Z2:4 E3

That tells the firmware to use drivers 2 (aka Z) and 4 (aka E1) for the Z axis.
