I did a little write-up on adding pushbutton switches to control my Duet Wifi. I thought it might be helpful if anyone else decides to mess around with external triggers with the Duet.

you must also solder the wire if you want long term reliability.
I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with that completely.

RE: External Triggers
Woah...Didn't realize this was getting any attention. I've been playing around with my website since it wasn't getting any traffic and managed to break it. I'll get it back up as soon as I can.
Here are some pictures of my control panel if anyone is interested.

@hayseed_byte would you consider adding the gist of it to the wiki for posterity?
I'd be happy to.

RE: Running gcode triggered by endstop
I wrote a bit about M581 that you might find helpful. There's an article on my website but since I'm not very good at managing a website and it often goes down, I added it to the wiki.

RE: New Duet 2 Wifi, wifi module starting...
Yeah, that's a pretty standard policy. But this isn't a standard product. If I wanted standard, I'd buy a $30 MKS board off amazon and if it was DoA, I'd expect to have to jump through a few hoops to get it replaced. Instead, I bought a premium product from an authorized distributor for a premium price.

RE: External Triggers
I fixed the link, though now the url is https://www.wildbot3d.xyz/contol-panel/. So the article is back up if anyone wants to check it out in the future.

That may sounds a bit over the top but I love good tools and I'm sure that it makes sense to support good engineering. I think that this is the case with duet, isn't it?
A man after my own heart.

RE: External Triggers
@phaedrux I added it to the wiki. I'm not much of a writer but all the information is there, I think.

RE: wiring an external Estop button to one of these avalable pins ?
I did a small write up on external triggers. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Using_M581_-_External_Triggers_and_Building_a_Control_Panel
I think at the time, the duet asked for confirmation on estop so triggering it externally wasn't doable but I think they've fixed that so it should work now.
