RE: What is the best 3d printer for beginners
@milesthomas I’d say look at a Prusa for ease of use.

RE: Why is there no classifieds on here?
@arnold_r_clark fair point I have boxes of various printer (spares), just in case.....

RE: Hello
Here is the original slicing software https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f1yuOidiOxlcGvqfJhKm9rftpKGLOB2k/view?usp=drive_link
It's old and clunky. You can use a slicer like Cura or Prusasclier with the printer with a little bit of work. If you want to update the printer then as @droftarts says look at one of the current duet boards.
If I can help let me know, I'll try asisst.

RE: Ringing on prints
Give Prusaslicer a go. I’ve moved to it from Cura and I’m impressed with it

RE: First Benchy printed - Issues
@TF_Sinthoras You can use the retraction tab here to tune it.

Feature request: Search function in 'Jobs'
Hi, hope this is the right place to raise this. It would be great if we could search within Jobs. It would make finding old prints a lot easier. Thanks.

RE: 3D code viever.
@Sindarius Thanks! Something new I've learnt today.

RE: Vertical lines vs. geared extruders
Interesting videos. New gear design required. I had the thought of using two motors to drive in unison but that comes with it's own issues.

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense now. Thank you. You guys have been super helpful. I just closed about 30 tabs since those questions have been solved for me. haha
I am now trying to see if I can get the probe to work. I am googling how to change the mesh grid(?) when it probes. I noticed when it first tried to probe it wasn't quite on the bed. I am assuming its coordinates on the m557 line. Still searching. The other thing I have to find is why it doesn't deploy the probe when it starts homing. It is lit up, it will kick in and out when I turn the printer on. But I need to find what I change to make it deploy when it goes to home.
Do you have a deploy probe and retract probe script? M401 should deploy it and M402 retract. I was in a very similar position to you just the other week so this is all very fresh and familiar for me!

RE: How to work out what goes where? Ribbon from print heads
@bearer Thanks. I'm making some progress now with this approach. testing my dexterity for sure

RE: [Feature request] Print file sorting options
I would say date order is preferable to alphabetical, it is for me at least.

RE: Anybody wants a stepper motor analyzer?
@zapta cant believe you've not linked to this vid on YT.

I'm interested from a learning perspective but currently have no use for it. I'd actually like to know what people will use this for? To test drivers and steppers I assume but to what extent?

I can only apologise.
no problem. i hope this helped you a bit to understand the commands and what they do.
Yes it's definitely improved my understanding. I will likely leave things for now. After a long day at work maybe a fresh mind tomorrow will allow me to get a first successful print.

RE: ST3Di Modelsmart 280 - Duet Maestro repair/upgrade
Needed more top/bottom layers but happy with this part.
First layer (0.2) and a calibration cube

RE: Problem with mesh compensation
@tecno sounds like you’ve well versed in the challenges of your printer then. Hopefully your current prints come out well
-
RE: differences between manual and automatic leveling
@gip_86 Have you got a config-override.g in your sys folder with the output of the tuning? You also need a M501 in your config.g if you do.

RE: ST3Di Modelsmart 280 - Duet Maestro repair/upgrade
@Phaedrux thanks for all the help, the support here is excellent and meant I could get a printer working again
-
RE: Prusa Slicer Dual extruders
@bot I’ve added the T0 to config.g as suggested above. Using reprap FW in settings. First few test prints look good to be fair. A benchy looked better than from Cura

I don't have the 5 pins to spare that it would require.
That depends, 2 of those are 5v and 2 ground. You might be able to piggy back off existing pins for those. Otherwise the BLTouch requires 1 wire for trigger signal, and 1 wire for servo signal.
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe#Section_BLTouch
Or something like this? I think it was you who pointed me to this in the past.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3303618 As said, take the 5v and grd from two wires and then a signal for the deploy/retract.
