Deut 3 Request: AC Duex
-
Hello everyone,
Just a thought for an upgrade for the next hardware. I'd love to see an AC Duex. I'm imagining the OMRON 120-250V SSRs (2A) onto the board with an AC inlet. I think these relays could cover most of what people are using the SSRs for - if they need something more powerful, they can continue to use SSRs with a heatsink . I don't think it makes much sense to have the heatsinks on the board.
Bonus points if you can match the board shape and outputs to allow the AC Duex to mount on top of a couple of FOTEK 40A SSR relays.

@tlas People complain about the fans and steppers being noisy and you want to add the clicking of relays?

You should read what an SSR is

@dragonn Long ago when I was using a ramps, I temporarily used a relay to control the bed before I recieved a ssr to use. The non-stop relay clicking to maintain the temperature was irritating.
With a relay on board, there will be some who won't get a ssr.

SSR don't click, you didn't use an SSR. SSR is an Solid State Relay, it uses most time a triac and a opto-isolator. They are no mechanical elements in a SSR

@tlas thanks for the suggestion however it is very unlikely that we will incorporate AC power onto the Duet Mainboard. The isolation requirements alone make it not worth the additional cost when off board solutions work well.
