Pressure advance grinding/skipping steps
-
Hi.
I have an older printer i just "reactivated", corexy, duet 2 wifi (3.6 rc2), bowden with titan and e3d v6.
Without pa it works great (3000 e accel, 4.25mm retraction @ 50mm/s), but with pa its makes a horrible grinding noise, doesnt sound healthy.Ive tested all sorts of jerk/accel combinations. The only way to get rid of the noise is very low, basically unusable jerk (120), with accel seemingly making no difference at all. Lower pa value makes it quieter, but even at 0.005 its noticeable.
Is this a hardware problem (extruder not strong/fast enough) or am i missing something?

How fast are you printing? That's a lot of retraction to make and adjust. The extruder is going to be trying to move quite a bit and quite rapidly to make the PA adjustments. If the jerk value isn't high enough the print will need to slow down to accommodate.
Other than the noise, is the print quality still good?

Im printing at 80mm/s.
Print quality is good. Not a huge difference, but i havent tuned it of course.
Retraction isnt the problem, turning it off doesnt change anything. If my only option is to slow down the print i guess ill just print without pa for now and live with some bulging corners.

Just piping in for visibility, I have noticed one of my prints on RC2 had extruder skipping steps on what looked like exterior perimeters on a smooth curved object.
I've not printed enough on RC 2 to say if its the print settings or the firmware or enough time to do further testing. But thought it might be relevant enough to add a +1 to this thread just in case it shows up later.
