Mesh Bed Compensation offset file?
-
Would it be possible to have a csv file in the same format as the heightmap.csv which would contain static offsets to add to the matching values in the generated heightmap.csv file?
I have 2 printers where the mesh compensation does not work well and am currently using a spreadsheet for each with static offsets for each mesh location which are added to the generated scan values and a new set of values that I then paste back in to a heighmap.csv file. This solution does work very well and I do now get good results for the first layer on each.
I created an stl file to print a grid 1 extrusion width wide, single layer height, which matches the grid used for the mesh bed compensation scan, a few iterations for this print with slight offset tweaks and my first layer is now consistent. If I have to create a new mesh scan, I then paste the new values in the top part of the table and I can copy the new values with the offsets added back in to the heightmap.csv.
It seems there have been a few posts with others having problems with bed mesh compensation not working as expected. This may possibly due to them not being perfectly aligned and constructed. It seems mesh compensation helps printers with beds that are not perfectly flat and that such an offset file to apply static offsets to a mash scan value might help work around non perfect axis construction.
Does this sound feasible?
