Why MQTT only available for WiFi boards?

I note that the documentation states that MQTT is only available for gen 3 Wi-Fi boards. Is there a reason for that limitation and/or are there any plans to expand MQTT to wired (Ethernet) boards?

@deckingman Its currently only available on the wifi boards, part of that is because of the work required to initiate outgoing connections. With other tasks ongoing i cant give an estimation of when we will start to look at this.
