Corrugated Iron and heightmap-generator

Hi gents,
I'm planning to build a CNC plasma table with a Duet2 and the z-axis is giving me headache.
I want to use a classic stepper driven Z-axis for the torch, but cutting corrugated iron will require extra attention.

• I think, I'd need a macro to generate a heightmap matching the material (either sine wave or trapezoidal sheets)
• I might get away with keeping the torch vertical, but it would be cool, if I could rotate the torch perpendicular to the surface and still keep the correct height.

Maybe, if the pivot point of the torch matches the height of the corrugated sheet, I could keep the right height by rotating only the torch (no z-axis)?

Any comment or suggestions are welcome
