@deckingman ah no the bot would be to automate the seed propagation like you say.
I wanted to do hydroponic herbs years ago - its how I got into 3d printing - never made the hydroponic basil farm in the end!

@T3P3Tony Look up the "Kratky" method. I don't use it myself but it's as simple as it gets.

@T3P3Tony Ah of course - you are still at the age where spending time doing a "proper job" is necessary to pay the bills. I'm at the age where I have the time but not the money.

I'm closely monitoring nutrient tank levels and utilizing sensors to detect moisture in the top of the towers (which acts as a pump failure alert system), sending notifications to my phone if anything goes wrong. The entire setup is currently managed by an ESP32 along with an array of sensors and relays [link removed by moderator]. While I'm not sure if creating a "bot" for harvesting a few salad leaves is justifiable, I can't rule it out entirely.What a very strange first post. @KenW I retired about 5 years ago and one of the first things I bought was a lathe and milling machine, yet here you are about to retire and selling your machines. Just recently I've erected a greenhouse to house my newly built hydroponics towers yet here you are selling your greenhouses. It's kind of weird that we are both embarking on the same retirement journey but doing opposite things.
I guess it's just about doing something different. Or more likely doing things that one enjoys doing, rather than doing things that one has to in order to pay the bills.
However it works out, I wish you joy in your retirement.

@KenW I am 70 I retired at 65 (and a half). I understand what you mean about nursing plants. Our only daughter is expecting our second grand child in February so we are planning on visiting for a couple of months or so. The trouble is, she lives in Australia, 10,000 miles away. So I'll be draining down the hydro towers and throwing any plants away.
