Trouble with Breakout Board
-
Hello!
I'm trying to figure out the wiring for a stepper motor without using a breakout board. Practically every tutorial I've found for wiring a stepper motor to a raspberry pi involves a breakout board. Is it possible to connect and operate the stepper motor with a raspberry pi without using a breakout board (perhaps directly to the GPIO pins)? If so, how?
I'm using a 4-lead Nema 17 stepper motor:

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advanced! -
@Gilesa, I think the key question would be your definition of a 'breakout board'. I am about 99.9% sure that at minimum you will need a 'driver' board that takes the output from the pi and generates the currents that control the stepper motor.
