Release candidate 3.4.6-rc.1 now available
-
I'm pleased to announce the availability of the first release candidate for v3.4.6.
This candidate brings severall improvements and bug fixes since v3.4.5.Please see the release notes for further information. They are available for:
Duet users operating their boards in standalone mode can find the release files here.
Note that SBC users need to change the package feed to
unstable-3.4
to obtain this version.
This can be achieved by the following command from a Linux (SSH) terminal provided you are on the defaultstable
package feed:echo "deb https://pkg.duet3d.com/ unstable-3.4 armv7" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/duet3d.list
Likewise, you can execute the following to remain on v3.4 instead of being forced to upgrade to v3.5 when that has been released:
echo "deb https://pkg.duet3d.com/ stable-3.4 armv7" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/duet3d.list
Of course the current
stable
andunstable
package feeds will remain available with the latest stable/unstable package versions. If you experience any issues with this build, please open a new thread with
[3.4.6-rc1]
in the title and post a description there. -
@chrishamm, how do we get to 3.4.6-rc-1 when the last upgrade was to 3.5.0-beta.4? Did you mean to announce 3.5.0-rc.1?
-
@jens55 No, this is a release candidate for the next v3.4.6 version, not v3.5.
-
OK, colour me confused .....
I got it now. There are three streams of releases x.x.x, x.x.x-beta and x.x.x-rc .... I don''t know why there are three streams instead of a single stream but I am sure there are reasons. -

@Herve_Smith Right, v3.4 is meant to be LTS. The movement system and other components in v3.5 contain significant changes so we want to provide a stable backup solution for production machines, at least until v3.5 is fully stable.
-
@jens55 3.4.6 contains critical bug fixes, not all the (significant) new features of 3.5.
