docs search breaks when hitting enter on search field
-
Dealing with a number of newcomers to RRF in other places and referring them to the docs.duet3d.com, a major snag is that the search field breaks with a nonsense error ("search term needs at least two characters") as soon as you hit enter when typing search terms.
I had to actively unlearn to hit enter when searching docs, and still trip over this on a regular basis.
Would be great if that were eventually fixed, because it would keep people from thinking search is broken.

@oliof had the same issue, years of hitting enter is a hard habit to break

@oliof I think it’s what is described as an ‘active search’, in that search results show as soon as you start typing. You don’t have to type the whole word in before results are found. I find it quite intuitive, and if I make a typo, it is immediately obvious, and editable as I haven’t pressed return to leave the box.
In the end, this is built into wiki.js (the wiki framework), and we are unlikely to be able to change it.

@oliof yes I find it a bit frustrating as well at times. Wiki.js is under development so once they release version 3 I may raise an issue with them to choose to change the search behaviour.

@droftarts I like the active search thing as well, that part I wasn't complaining about (-:
