Magnetic encoder properties...
-
Hi All,
I'm just getting ready to swap my 1HCL over to a new encoder setup on my polar printer bed. It's the combination of a 200 pole 2mm pitch circular encoder radial magnet ring (normally used on a CNC lathe) and a paired 1um encoder reading head. It's the equivalent of using a linear magnetic encoder on a linear axis, but for a rotary axis instead. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with them either.
Does anyone know how I calculate the pulses per rotation for the bed? Effective circumference 2mm x 200 of the ring divided by 1um?
I was thinking of just measuring it with an Arduino to confirm. Is there any way to do that via the 1HCL?
Any constructive thoughts would be much appreciated.
All the best

@CNCModeller the datasheet should say how the quadrature output for the read head works. (it sounds similar to the Renishaw linear encoder we have been experimenting with).
