Alternate setup for Duet 2 and SBC

I was thinking, wouldn't it be possible for you to keep a USB connection permanently in place with a SBC, serve the DWC off of the SBC and have it get its updates over the USB?
It would require server side code that would bridge the requests and the USB requests, but that's not super difficult.
My question, is the USB serial connection to slow or demanding on the duet for this purpose?
My thought behind doing this is that it seems like the http server on the duet is a bit underpowered, and like it can only handle one browser open at a time. Like if I have it open on my desktop and then check in on the printer from my phone, sometimes it fails to load the interface until I close the other browser.
The other issue is if I were to transfer gcode to the duet via USB, that might be slow (not print via USB)
I wouldn't print via USB because I would want that connection for nothing but the bridge between the duet and the SBC.

I believe the USB connection would be too slow. Even transfering a file to print locally would be very slow.
