@andy_m what version is it?
can you post hi res photos of the top and bottom of the smart effector? -
@andy_m Oops!

@droftarts Ian I have a feeling that your post is in the wrong thread. This one is re the smart effector not filament sensor!
-
@droftarts its a smart effector not filament sensor
-
@dougal1957 Doh! Sorry, that's the trouble with having a phone with a small screen!
From https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Accessories/Smart_Effector#troubleshooting-led-flash-codes
6 flashes - strain gauge output out of tolerance (too low)This could be because you have changed the tolerance and set it too low, or that the sensor is faulty.
It would still be useful to know your firmware version and hardware, so please send
M115
and post the response, and sendM558
to show the configuration of your probe. I can't remember if sendingM672
on it's own will report the current tolerance setting, but please try that, too.To revert to factory settings, send command
M672 S131:131
. The green LED will flash 5 times if the command is accepted. When you subsequently power up the Smart Effector, the green LED should flash twice to indicate that default settings are being used.Ian

@droftarts Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.
-
@jay_s_uk Thanks, I'll do that tomorrow.
-
I have tried resetting the sensitivity to factory settings but the board is still flashing 6 times continually.
-
Sorry, only part reply as I was struggling to log on yesterday - technology is working well for me it would seem. I have recently updated the firmware to the latest stable version 3.4.0 and I am also, successfully running another delta with the same set up so I don't think it I have done anything crazy.
-
When did you purchase from oozenest?
-
@phaedrux 26th November 2021
-
Can you disassemble the smart effector and snap some close up photos of both sides?
-
@phaedrux Will do.
-
-
@andy_m
Looks like there is some damage to the traces near the heater output -
@jay_s_uk Yes I noticed that, doesn't look like the tracks are damaged, just the blue cover but then they also look very delicate.
-
-
The damage to those traces looks like it could be the problem. They are quite delicate. Waiting to see what DC42 thinks.
Do you know what caused that scuff? I assume it worked at some point?
-
@phaedrux It was working fine, I'm not sure why, but the fan mount broke. (I work in a school and some of the students can be a little unreliable!) I think refitting the fan must have caused the problem, there isn't a great deal of space. I have another board like this, would it cause a problem if I covered the board with tape if I have to replace anything? Don't want to trash another one!
-
DC42 has confirmed that the damage is likely the problem. The traces are quite delicate.

You mean as protection for the traces on the new smart effector? I suppose that could work. It probably wouldn't make it stiff enough to matter. Worth trying.
