6-pin wiring at expansion breakout board
-
Hello,
I have Leadshine D808 external stepper drivers and I want to connect those to my breakout expansion board. When I look at regular output signals I see 4 pins, but all the slots E5-E9 have 6 pins, where the ground is not included. Are there cables available from Duet or any universal cable? When I look at the regular pins from other boards, I do not see the same setup. If not, is there a way to prevent me from making all the cables manually?

See these pages:

https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Duet_Expansion_Breakout_BoardThe Leadshine D808 has six inputs for external control in 3 pairs: PUL+ and PUL- (ie 'step'), DIR+ and DIR- ('direction') and ENA+ and ENA- (enable). These match the 6 outputs from the breakout board. Signalling is 0 to 5V, which is what the breakout board supplies, so it should be a simple case of wiring the 6 outputs from the breakout board to the 6 inputs on the Leadshine driver.

No external power? I found out that the D808 works on 3.3v so that would help with the wiring if it is possible to put the 6 wires right inside the 6 pins in the breakout board. Is that possible caused by the 3.3V pin that all the signals have that voltage?

@peterartechno Sorry, my mistake, the breakout board signalling is a differential 3.6V signal, ie -3.6V to +3.6V. You can wire it for 0 to 5V signalling, see https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Duet_Expansion_Breakout_Board#Section_Notes
You'll need external power to the D808. It takes 24-72VDC. If it will accept a low current 3.3V signal, you don't need the breakout board and can connect it direct to the relevant pins on the expansion pin header of the Duet. See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Using_external_stepper_motor_drivers
