Thank you for helping me build this 2 color clay printer
-
Many thanks again to everyone on the forum who helped me get this two color "teeter totter" clay printer going. I thought I'd share some images. Printer runs on a Duet Wifi with Duex5 expansion board and PanelDue7. It's running 8 Nema 23 motors - X, Y, two Z's, and 4 extruder motors (two tools with two motors each). It is built out of aluminum components from OpenBuilds, and builds on several years of constant experimentation.

@tom_lauerman Nice!

Wow! Very cool. Where can we find out more about this build?

That's a very impressive machine! What is the nozzle diameter? How fast do you print? What makes the clay hard to hold itself while printing additional layers?

@GizmotronX5000 thanks for your interest!
I haven't documented it fully yet, but I generally post things in these locations:

@zapta In the picture the nozzle diameter is 1mm. I print fairly slowly, maybe half the speed of a typical consumer FDM printer. The clay sits atop itself as if one were making a piece of coil pottery. It is important for the clay to be the right consistency - too much water and it will collapse, too little water and it will be too stiff to push through a nozzle.

this is awesome, thanks for sharing
