bed mesh compensation unclarity
-
Hello all together,
I have some issues understanding bed mesh compensation. I have a Delta with a inductive Probe, which ist not attached permanently onto the print head. If done a bed mesh compensation routine.
Wiki says: On start up there is no mesh compensation enabled.Because of the the Probe ist not permanent I can't run an auto calibration or G30 command before each print/ after each startup
Question: Why is it not possible to load a previously saved height map, without establishing the Z=0 datum? Because of the homing of the axis the position of Z=0 should be the same (Ignoring possible jitter in the homing switches).

Hope my question is clear and I am not missing out on anything.
Best Regards

It is possible, just not recommended, because you cannot always guarantee that the bed surface is going to be exactly the same distance from the endstop max position.
there is always the option of using the manual probe type (m558 P0) to manually set the Z0 position by touching the nozzle to the bed center. It would be tedious to use for a G29 or calibration routine, but it wouldn't be too bad for a single point before starting a print.

on a delta this should still work. if you just ignore the message you should be able to print just fine.
