Filament sensor for printer
-
I am putting together stuff to get ready for my corexy build. I am planning on using the Duet 2 with and Duex5. Going use the Hemera new extruder. In the past only had Prusa sensor but with this setup should I add to the mix?

Anyone? I am looking at which to buy for this setup.

The two official Duet ones are:

https://duet3d.com/DuetAddons/LaserFilamentMonitorYou can wire up a simple microswitch, or there are a number of other filament sensor that are compatible. I don't have a list, but searching the forum should bring others up. We don't support the Prusa laser sensor; see this thread: https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/6275/prusa-laser-filament-sensor

@droftarts What is the difference between the 2? One easy to use or better?

@rmilyard The laser version is a bit more limited in the materials you can use with it. From the product page:
Note: The Laser Filament Monitor is sensitive to the filament type used: it has proved less senstive to PETG of certain types. Please read the documentation for more details.
The magnetic version is more adaptable, but more expensive. Unfortunately, I don't have either of them! You'll have to ask for feedback from other users which they prefer.
