I had a crazy idea, what if filament had UV based almost bar-code like signature that the extruder could read while either passing through or loading ? I know they do this with RFID's now on spools of filament, but what if the filament itself had the codes. UV markings of course being invisible unless under the correct wavelength.

Just a thought.
