New Product Release - Precision Piezo Orion
-
@moriquendi I'll have to wait for the couplings to arrive in the week (just ordered), so will let you know how it goes, thanks!
-
How do I mount it? Which X-carriage is neccessary? Can you show a picture?
I have a HEVO and there are a lot of hotend carriages...Which is compatible with the chimera orion mount?
-
@hevilp I couldn't find anything for a Hevo when I looked, so am working on something. Parts are printing currently so I'll let you know when I've had a chance to test.
-
I don't know of any carriage for the HEVO that is directly compatible with the chimera mount. It's not possible for me to develop integrated mounts/carriages for every kind of printer and hotend combination. I try to develop parts that can be easily adapted to specific printers.

@hevilp As I said, I'm still printing this, so completely untested - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3046312
-
@keyz182 I got the chimera+ , you got the chimera "old" or?
And I got the aqua cooled... Will be a lot of work, like it seems -
@hevilp I have Chimera+. I believe the mounting points are the same in aqua and air, so you may be able to use this.
-
Nice, which x carriage you are using?
I bought 2 weeks ago the normal piezo20 v1.1.
Can I use it or I realy need the Orion?
How Do you mount the coolside on your thing? I do not see any screws from the back of the coolside to the carriage.
-
@hevilp if you don't have an Orion, this works - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2801604
I'm using the standard X carriage, so the one I designed is designed for that.
-
I got this and it works like the last one you posted.

It does not work for me and I cannot realy find a solution.
I think the problem is, that the pressure is 90 degrees to the nozzle and not direct on it....
Again, How would I mount the aqua coolside to your mount? Where do the screws go?
-
@hevilp do you have 8mm or 10mm X axis rods? I found that there was just enough rotational flex in the Y/Z plane with the two 8mm rods such that if the piezo tension and adjustment pot aren't perfect, it just twists. It does work with a lot of trial and error though. I have a pair of 10mm rods to upgrade to at some point. The above though is why I wanted to change to using the Orion in a vertical orientation - any time I made any adjustments, I had to recalibrate it all. I suspect that 10mm rods will fix that too though.
-
I got 10 mm rods. I think with a normal v6 hotend it will work, but I did a lot of trial and error and it is getting more worse...
I will buy the Orion and use your mount. It should perfect my usercase, as it like yours.
Thanks but can you answer my question with the mount of the coolside
-
@hevilp I only designed the mount today, and have still not tested it. I don't know how the aqua differs from the air, so not sure how or if it will mount. I do remember reading that the mounting holes on the cooling block are in the same place though. I can put up the CAD files up on thingiverse so you can tweak if you need to.
-
But where do the screws go?
I just ordered the Orion kit and hope your mount will work and yes, of course I will tweak if its needed.
-
@hevilp It screws into the part that @Moriquendi linked.
-
I think you mean the screws on the top of the heatsink?
The aquacoolside got only 4 screws wholes on the back, so I'm need to mount it in anyway in the back. There are no screw wholes on the top.
And, I got the water tubes, I think they will not go through the Orion..
-
@hevilp ah, ok. Just looked up the Aqua, didn't realise the pipes came out the top. I don't believe that it can be made to work with the designs here, and I'm not even sure it would work with the Orion at all, as the pipes are right where the piezo would be.
-
But, the Orion needs a piezo disc right? So independent from the way of mount the it is a better Version of the v1.1?
-
Orion has a pair of piezos mounted onto the PCB, rather than being on a wire
-
Okay, is possible to create a mount with vertical orientation? Like the one we have not so good experience with?
