10 Pin Accelerometer Cable Length
-
I have the Duet accelerometer, and it came with a 1M 10 pin cable. Is there a maximum length that cable can be increased? Wanting to install it on a Modix Meter and extra cable would be very helpful.

@aaroncook311 that's about the limit for the SPI bus on the accelerometer. You could experiment with a longer one but its not guaranteed, it will depend partly on how much interference there is so avoid stepper motor wires etc

@T3P3Tony - Great advice and Ill be sure to utilize. Since I've never played with the Duet version of an accelerometer, so I'm not sure what all homing it will want to do, but I'm thinking I'll first try with the 1M cable and just activate the end stops if it wants to center in the bed. Just keep the hotend within reach.

@aaroncook311 See https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Sensors_Accelerometer#wiring-recommendations
Some users on the forum have suggested using USB3 cable for longer runs (up to 3m), as it uses twisted pairs and shielding to improve the signal. For a guide to wiring USB3 cables, see the Team Gloomy guide here.
I'm not sure how easy it is to connect the USB cable wires to a ribbon cable connector, though.
