Extend stepper motor driver without duex2 or duex5
-
Hello everyone, I am Vietnamese, Duet3d hardware here is very difficult to find but I was very lucky to buy a Duet 2 wifi from my friend. I want to have 4 more stepper motor drivers for my machine. Is there any way to add it to duet 2 via dvr8825 or tmc 2209 driver without Duex2 or Duex5? Thank you for your attention and replying to me
(As you know, buying Duex2/duex5 and waiting for the goods to arrive usually takes up to 1-2 months and I don't want to wait at all =)) -
@leeviet Hi,
do you have better access to the chinese market?
I have succesfully used a BigTreeTech M5 expansion board for my Duet2, which might be an option for you too.
As you can see, the expansion connectors are not 1:1 compatible and I used jumper wires for a first test.

I just noticed that the M5 board is out of stock at AliExpress.
If you need only 2-3 additional drivers, this option might work too. -
@o_lampe Thank you this is a good idea

@o_lampe After seeing how to use your BTT EXP-Mot V1.0, it's exactly what I needed, but it uses two pins exp1 and exp2 that were originally used for the display, so if I want to use it, I have to remove the screen right?

@leeviet I don't know exactly why both headers are used for the extension board. All the required pins are on the CONN_LCD header.
I can only think of 5V which is only on the Panel_Due header.
I guess, you can route 5V from elsewhere and use both: screen and extension.
Alternatively you can connect the extension board to the 40-pin expansion port with jumper wires. Just like I did with the BTT M5 board...
