Duet 2 purchase
-
I am currently struggling with a rebuild of an all metal delta machine using a Duet2 WiFi board. I've come to the conclusion that the board is faulty and so would welcome advise on where to buy a new board, and indeed if you think that this is the best solution i.e do you think that a duet3 is a better buy for example. The board I have at the moment was given to me following the death of a friend and so I know nothing about the board other that it was not in use when my friend died. suffice to say that I struggled a bit when I first installed the board but with the help of this forum got it up and running superbly until about 2 weeks ago when I started the machine and homed it but all I got was a lot of screaching and an emergency stop. DWC reported no signal on A circuit on drives 0,1,2. Since then I have replaced everything I could replace ( wiring, plugs etc) all to no avail, so have come to the conclusion that there is a fault with the board and since this is my favourite machine I think a new board is the best solution.

@lexia, there are a bunch of reasons that this might be happening. The fact that the board was working indicates (to me) that you have enough understanding to go further in your trouble shooting. While I am not qualified to help you, I am certain that before long you will have a number of people helping you diagnose things.
As to the question of Duet2 vs Duet3, that really is a question of need/want/budget. I personally would not hesitate to go with a Duet3. As a matter of fact I have two Duet2's that I would love to upgrade to Duet3's but they are working perfectly fine and that makes it difficult to justify upgrading. I could sell the duet2's but with the expected return of roughly 50% of new price and the hassle of shipping it across any border (very limited market in Canada), I have reluctantly decided that my 'want/need' ratio is not rightGood luck!

@jens55 Thanks for that Jens, I decided that Duet3 would be the best option and so I think I will go ahead and get one ( after all it is cheaper than joining the golf club! ) and when this machine is up and running again I will probably get this board checked out/repaired properly and use it on one of my other machines which are all running on BTT 1.4 turbo boards.

If you'd like to troubleshoot further, provide the exact error message you're getting and what you have to do to provoke the error.
Sharing your config files, homing files, bed., etc would also help, as well as the results of sending M122 and M98 P"config.g"
