Duet 3 Mini 5+ with New 3HC, Suddenly Wifi Disconnects
-
I just added a 3HC to my setup, and now i suddenly have wifi disconnects almost continuously. This is the first time i have booted up and started using the printer since adding expansion.
Its an IDEX machine with Duet 3 Mini 5+ running 2 toolboards over can bus. all working normally. Now i have added a 3HC in the middle of the mini 5>3HC>toolboard 1>toolboard 2.
when i run homeall, the motion and homing completes normally. but during or usually at the completion, the DWC disconnects from wifi and i must manually chose the wifi connection to regain communication.
same if i run G29 bed level or G32 bed mesh. it disconnects pretty quickly after running those.

WiFi module is providing access pointI just wanted to check to make sure I understand your networking.
The Duet is providing a WiFi access point and you are connecting to it using your PC?
Have you run an M587 to setup the SSID and password when running the duet as an access point?
Sorry if this is all basic stuff, I have a Duet/Ethernet, and most people run their Duet/WiFi as a client so I'm full of questions right now.
-
@alankilian yes you read it correctly. i run my Duet as an access point and connect directly to its IP address using my laptop. I havent changed this for many months so it should still be working normally. (dont have any issues with it to speak of).
i have now run a few prints and havent seen any disconnects during printing. so maybe everything is good. i will keep checking...

Supply voltage: min 20.2, current 24.1, max 27.5
This is another thing that's a little funny.
Is your power supply getting so loaded down that it can't quite maintain proper voltage to the board?
Adding another board, even if it's a low-power-consumption board might have pushed your power supply over the edge.
-
Hi do a M122 in console and see what the signal strength is like .

Duet 3 Mini 5+ version 3.4.2
Can you send M122 B# where #is the canbus address of the 3hc board and make sure the firmware matches?
You should also probably update the firmware anyway by uploading the full 3.4.5 zip file. That should update the 3hc as well.

i think the voltage is ok now. i'm not sure why it showed such a voltage drop. but this is a new power supply i specifically added for this expansion; its a new 24V 20A power supply which i'm only using about 10A total.
here is another M122 today of the mainboard.

@Phaedrux said in Duet 3 Mini 5+ with New 3HC, Suddenly Wifi Disconnects:
You should also probably update the firmware anyway by uploading the full 3.4.5 zip file. That should update the 3hc as well.
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/3.4.5/Duet2and3Firmware-3.4.5.zipYour firmwares on the boards are mismatched, which can lead to unexpected problems, please update the firmware by uploading that zip file, then check the boards firmware versions again to ensure they match up.
