Duet 3 6hc with SBC and Raspberry questions
-
Hi,
I made a CNC router last year with an arduino mega2560 with ramps, external drivers, spindle with VFD. Mechanical parts are good (aluminium strut profile, linear rails, ball screws) but arduino with ramps seems not to be well shielded and I had a lot EMI problems (end stop false positives). As I have a duet2 on a 3D printer I made wich I love to use, I deceide to ask Santa to send me a duet3 6hc, he did it !
I'm now drawing an enclosure for it and have some questions without answers, so here I am:
I want to use the duet with a raspberry attached, pi will be use as human interface (maybe with plugins) with just mouse, keyboard and screen, nothing more. I now have a raspberry pi 3B+. Is there any interest to buy a pi4 when it will be avaible?
For now, with pi3, can I use the duet power via the ribbon cable without external PSU?
What about pi4 (if needed) without external PSU and same simple use?Thx in advance

The Pi3 will likely be fine powered from the Duet, but the Pi4 would need it's own supply. The Pi4 is quite a bit faster and more responsive if you intend to use the Duet Pi GUI it can be a nice improvement.
