Update fail on very first step!
-
Are you trying to upload the intact single zip file, or did you extract it first?
-
@phaedrux I tried to update from the entire zip file. Per your chat message I simply just went to 3.0... and surprise! I'm dead in the water again just like the last time I updated from 2.x to 3. Sigh...
The web control does not connect. -
Connect via USB terminal and send M115 and M122 and see what response you get. It's possible the wifi firmware did not flash correctly in which case you would need to reflash it by sending M997 S1.
Based on the results of those commands we'll be able to make further advice.
-
@phaedrux Yeah... well...
The machine is a tool changer out in the garage so I have to use my laptop.
Serialtools installs on the Mac side but it won't run!
I switch over to Windows... YAT won't install. -
@phaedrux OK... had to download SerialTools directly from the dev...
M115 I get...
FIRMWARE_NAME: RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet FIRMWARE_VERSION: 3.0 ELECTRONICS: Duet WiFi 1.02 or later + DueX5 FIRMWARE_DATE: 2020-01-03b3M122 returns nothing
I tried M997 S1 and I get nothing.
-
@andy-cohen So... the port was sucking too much voltage.. attached the PS to the laptop...
M122 S1

@andy-cohen and...
now I can connect via wifi!
Whats up with that?? -
@andy-cohen but it keeps disconnecting. Sigh..
-
When you're able to connect to DWC can you now upload the zip file for 3.3?
If 3.3 works, then do 3.4.1.
-
@phaedrux The connection is not reliable enough. No idea whats going on here.
-
@andy-cohen Now it won't connect at all. Its not my wifi signal. I can connect other things just fine.
-
@andy-cohen The terminal connection is flakey as well. It is random as to whether or not it works.
-
Is it connected to VIN at the same time as USB?
Do you have other things connected at the same time?
When it loses connection do the lights on the board change as well?
Is it losing power entirely or just dropping wifi? -
@phaedrux The lights stay on. Only USB then only wifi(with cable disconnected). Both act flakey. Not losing power at all as far as I can see.
-
With everything else disconnected connect via USB and send M997 to reflash both firmware. You can then send M552 S1 to enable the wifi module and it should connect. See if that makes an improvement.

@phaedrux said in Update fail on very first step!:
M997
SO... on the M997, shouldn't it return OK afterward? It doesn't.
-
@andy-cohen No change. I can't get it to connect wifi at all now.

I'm not familiar with serial tools so I don't know what it would return there, but on YAT it should give you some indication that the firmware is being flashed.

Does the module have a blue light showing?
If you send these commands what does it return?
M552 S-1
M552 S0
M552 S1Is there no chance you could use YAT?
-
@phaedrux Yeah... they worked...
and the router changed the IP address! I looked in the router map too and could not find the Duet.
So it connects, but then the connection is immediately interrupted and it tries to reconnect. -
Can you set a DHCP reservation on the router to keep the Duet IP the same?
