a little more info. it never worked properly. i never said it shorted. maybe that is the case. all i know is it isnt working and my engineer who has built alot of printers, said the system is faulty. a little disappointed after paying $274.76
the reason i paid top dollar and got the real deal is i have been told that the clones can be faulty. -
Could you provide images of the board? the setup? how its plugged in? where the wires are going/coming from? The screen? - Have you tried connecting the duet2 to your local network and accessing it via browser?
Provide the config your engineer was using.
FWIW - I'm an engineer (and design, build, and upgrade printers) and there are plenty of simple things I miss from time to time. Its human.
Need more details on the setup.

Part of what you paid for is support which you can get here, but we need some information to be able to help you either solve the problem or replace the item if defective. So far from what you've given us to work with I can't tell if it's just a wiring issue, a configuration issue, or if it's been damaged by user error.
A white screen on the paneldue may just mean the firmware on it has been wiped and needs to be re-applied.
Follow the process described here for updating via USB and the BOSSA programming software. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/PanelDue_Firmware_update
Are you able to connect to the Duet board via USB terminal to see if it is still functional? What LED lights light up when it's connected to power?
-
We have tried that. And it is still unsuccessful
-
Yes I can connect.
-
It is a flickering white screen
-
I have no ideas where it is shorted, or if their is just a bad connection. Never a reverse polarity event. Took out of box. My engineer hooked it up. And it is a white flickering screen that sometims is bright, sometimes it is flickering.
-
I appreciate your diligence, but you seem to be looking for every possibility except for which is the obvious. Which is the board or the paneldue or the ribbon cable is defective.

So the Duet is otherwise working? I'm just trying to ascertain what all isn't working and what you want replaced.

Is this when the PanelDue is connected to the Duet or to USB?
When connected to the Duet is it by 4-wire cable or 10-wire ribbon cable?@tryitwhynot1492 said in returns:

Not at all. If you go through the forum you'll see many examples of cooperative trouble shooting that either leads to the problem being identified and solved, or warranty replacement approved. The only thing holding that back from happening here is your unwillingness to answer some basic questions. It would be far easier for me to just give you a replacement but then if that wasn't the problem and it still doesn't work I'll just have to deal with it again then and we'll have wasted even more time.
-
I know I don't have a shiny moderator tag, but posting your config as well as images of the setup would be immensely helpful for all involved.
I give&recieve help here, and the only way things don't get solved is when information isn't flowing.

From what I can see you apparently bought it 28th Nov. Year not specified, Duet2 and PanelDue has been out for a while.
Nearly six months after purchase you claim that it is not working.
Normally when I buy a Duet board it is in the printer within a week of purchase and as most people know, electrical / component issues normally come to light nigh on immediately or within a couple of weeks and then after that when a short has occurred. (Like what I have done previously!)You have not given any quantifiable information for the Techs / forum to assist and help you resolve your problem, and believe me, we like helping people resolve their issues!
Even simple things like, I have been able to print by uploading via the web interface, It is currently running x.xx firmware. I can home and control the printer from the web console. No response to requests for pictures, config files, again people trying to help you.
As they say, Pictures can speak a thousand words, so help them to help you and respond to their requests.
Try unplugging the 10 way ribbon cable, your licensed engineer might of plugged it into the wrong hole. In my experience I have never used the ribbon cable only the 4 pin cable.
In my work environment, the paneldue is only for when I need to monitor or home the printer as my computer is the other-side of my office, otherwise everything else is done via my desktop.Again, never heard of a 'licensed engineer' to install a retail purchased board, first for me.
Thats what sparked my interest in this post the other day apart from the curt title of the post. -

Just because you use it right away doesnt mean I do too. Is it at all possible the board is bad?
I am very disappointed in this system. Who is the person who is in charge of returns for boards that arent working. Unless you can tell me
that never has a board ever been made and not worked. And if that is the case, then congratulations.....this is the first company in the world that has made a electronics piece that has never failed.
what I do know is this? I am very disappointed. The reason I bought the duet3d board and paneldue is after doing research, I heard it had the best reputation...cost put aside.
Now from now on....the only person I will deal with is someone who tells me they are working for duet and are in charge of returns. -
@phaedrux You seem to be a person who is in charge of returns.
What I dont have is time to talk to people who arent in charge of returns. This is not my first piece of electronics that has not worked and I have boughten many pieces of electronics in my 57 years. What I can tell you is I am losing my patience with all these do gooders that mean well, but clearly arent in charge of returns by their responses.I am very disappointed in the hoops I have had to go through. Worse than doing a return at Walmart. And without giving my background, this is not my first 3d printer to build. And what horrible cs for a company that charges the amount you do.

My communicating on this "forum" is over. I dont need kibitzers adding their 2 cents. Kindly leave an email address or a phone number and we can talk directly.
-
As you wish. warranty@duet3d.com
-
@phaedrux So are you denying my warranty for this faulty component?
-
@tryitwhynot1492, you wanted an email address and you got an email address ..... not sure why you are still not happy.
-
@tryitwhynot1492
Just in case you are not aware or did not read the warranty policy.
MatterHackers policy is 30 days, cannot find anything on their site referring to Duets policy, but suspect it is as above.
So without going through the 'process' which requires you to post in the forum, (like we all have to), an Admin or Moderator cannot approve a replacement.
kibitzers I am thankful to them when I have had an issue otherwise I would not learn or been able to fix my issue.

Not at all. You asked for an email address to continue correspondence. That's warranty@duet3d.com and I await your email. Once we determine what qualifies for warranty we will process it as such.
-
You've spent more time avoiding posting useful information than it would have taken to provide. If you had provided them, and no issue would have been found, you would very likely have had your warranty approval by now.
Plenty of warranty claims aren't warranty, they're wiring or other issues that can be found by helpful do-gooders like myself and others. Many hands make light work, That's kind of what the point of these forums and open-source in general.
