Heater Warning after successful Print

But it does mean that if a Mosfet failed such that the heater was on at full power, the hot end could reach 547 deg C. Reducing the PWM value does not reduce that risk. i.e. if a Mosfet failed it could fail fully on - regardless of the PWM value. The only safe way to cure this is to use a lower powered cartridge. Is it really 40 Watt? Might is be a 40 Watt cartridge at 12V ? If, so then that would equate to a much higher wattage at 24V.

The Heater Cartridge is Marked with 24V 40W, but as i mentioned it is a Clone from Mellow Store from Aliexpress!What would you do?
Leave this Cartridge?
It is a new one, assembled this Printer in the last weeks, step for step ... and not finish until yetKind Regards

@xenon2008 I doubt that the cloners would have done any testing or research to determine the optimum size heater cartridge to use. Most likely, they just picked a 40 Watt heater at random and supply that with the hot end for no better reason than they are cheap and readily available. Or alternatively, the cartridge might not necessarily be rated at 40Watt.
It's a matter of balancing risk. It is unlikely that a Mosfet would fail, but not by any means unheard of. If that happened, and the hot reached 547 deg C, could that cause a fire? Do you regularly leave the printer unattended or do you always stay close to it when the hot end is heated? Only you can decide what level of risk you are comfortable with.
Personally, I would check the resistance. Check my maths but 40 Watts at 24V should draw 1.7 Amps. Ohms law is V=IR so R = V/I = 24/1.7 = 14.4 Ohms. So if the cartridge resistance is really 14.4 Ohms, then I'd look to buy a 30 Watt cartridge.

Thanks to all for your Answers to me!
I measured the resistance (is this right written?) for the current Heater Cartridge:
It is about 13 Ohms!Then i measured a new one, with 40W and 24V, this had ~16Ohms
If i calculated right, the current Cartridge has about 45W, and a new one about 36W!
Actually I only print when I or at least someone else is at home, because I have a "bad" conscience anyway if something should happen.
In addition, I am much too sensitive if a print were loose and possibly damage the hotend or something other on my "babys"Kind Regards from Upper Austria

BTW, a another Question to the Webinterface from Duet 2 Wifi please.
If both Heaters (Bed & Hotend) are OFF, and i entered for the BED Temperature 80C and press ENTER, ist will be enabled automatically, if i do this by the Hotend, nothing happens?

What firmware and DWC version are you using?
Tools must be made active for the heater to start heating.

And when i enter a Degree in the Hotend and Press ENTER, nothing happens -
Hi Gents, i have a similar problem on my Chiron if you don't mind answering, but my warning says a max predicted1255C! I had to replace my PT100 as a print went wrong and ripped the hotend of and left a total mess of filament the next morning, so I've changed the bowden rig to direct drive, replaced with the PT100 I found on amazon rated at up to 100 ohms, but I've never used a pt100 and my chiron is the only one in my stable that had a pt100, everything else is straight forward thermistors, any suggestions? Thanks in advance

@Atraedes I suggest you create a new thread for your issue. The main question is whether you had a PT100 daughterboard installed and how you are configured, so please include those details.

@Phaedrux sorry I should’ve started a new thread, but yes i have a daughter board, i simply rewired back to it the way it was originally, but tbh i keep getting error messages so prefer to go back to a standard thermistor, any chance you could instruct me how to remove the pt100 and d-board and simply wire back a normal thermistor please? Is there any radical programming needs to be done?
