alright ill drop that in there, thank you.
i have this probe that came yesterday i need to install, but i need to print a bracket to put it on before i can lol.

So i think we have progress, no crashing before hand, but the bed goes half way down and then it starts to print but doesnt extrude any fillament.
-
That sounds like the Z steps per mm is incorrect.
Try to measure how much it actually moves when you command it to move 10mm.
I'm not sure off hand what the Ender 5 pro Z steps should be, but if you have lead screw and motor details it can be worked out.
Z_steps_per_mm = (motor_steps_per_rev * driver_microstep) / screw_lead
-
i raised it all the way, marked the back, lowered it 10mm then marked the back, lowered the bed out of the way and measured, looks like it only went about 4.5mm.
Will the motor steps and driver info be online or on the device?
thanks again for all your help on this.
-
Doing a Google it looks like it might be 800. Which kinda matches with what you've measured.
-
so update that in the config.g?
current:
M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z400.00 E93.00 ; set steps per mmchange to:
M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z800.00 E93.00 ; set steps per mm -
tried that and took a step back.
it crashed a bit when the job started, then the bed lowered probably 3/4 of the way down and its printing now while the bed is still almost all the way down and no fillament coming out of the extruder.
-
Does the Z axis move the right amount with 800 steps per mm?
Can you post a video of it running?
Is the extruder motor trying to move at all? Is the hotend at temp?
And just to confirm, after homing you're able to jog the head around the bed fine?

Z axis moves about 11mm when i push 10 now.
working on a video as we speak.
hotend is at temp, i can push fillament through.
i am able to jog the head around the bed fine.
-
here is the beggining of it, i could only get that cuz i couldnt get a full size video to upload anywhere. in the video he hear the begining and then the bed start to lower, goes almost all the way down then the extruder starts to move around list its printing with the bed all the way down almost.

Your Z endstop is at Zmin, not zmax.
Change this
M574 Z2 S1 P"zstop"
To thisM574 Z1 S1 P"zstop"
Then change your homeall and homez from this
G1 H1 Z305 F360 ; move Z up stopping at the endstop G90 ; absolute positioning G92 Z300 ; set Z position to axis maximum (you may want to adjust this)
To this
G1 H1 Z-320 F360 ; move Z stopping at the endstop G90 ; absolute positioning
Direction change and removing the G92
-
It also doesn't look like your hotend fan is spinning. Was it at temp?
-
I made all 3 changes, but then when i tried to home it sent the bed to the bottom (homeing was working) so i put it back and put the homing configs back.
left the z endstop the same and the same thing happened when i sent a print job, the bed went to the bottom and then the extruder started trying to print while the bed was at the bottom.
the hotend said it was at temp according to the web page for the board. i was able to mannually turn the fan on with a setting at the bottom of the page.
i feel like we are getting close, sorry for being a pain.

Then we need to change the motor direction for Z like we did for the X and Y. The config changes were correct.

Then I think maybe your fan plugs need to be switched, because your part cooling fan was on.

almost there. no pain at at all.
-
alright so it helps if i actually make the changes you want. after i re-did the changes you want the homing works fine now AND THE BED STAYS UP when i send a print. The extruder is still crashing into the stops right away when i send a print job and i dont have any fillament coming out yet.
PROGRESS
Should i swap the fan to an always on port?
-
So when i home it, x and y go to 225 and z goes to 0. but if i want -z to go down shouldnt 0 be at the bottom? how would i swap that around, change the motor direction like you suggested in your last post?
-

No, swap the hotend fan and the part cooling fan plugs.
@agent0810 said in Homing advice:

No, 0 is when the nozzle is touching the bed and +Z means the bed is going down as the print gets taller. It's a bit different with a bed that moves in Z as opposed to a bed that stays put and the nozzle raises. But think of it as the print gets bigger as the nozzle and bed get further apart. The print starts at 0 and grows.

So the print head isn't moving around the center area of the bed? But you can jog the print head around the entire bed area without problem?
and i dont have any fillament coming out yet.
Double check your extruder wiring. Which driver are you connected to?
If you remove your filament and then send
M302 P1
to allow cold extrusion you should then be able to use the extrusion dialogue to move the extruder motor back and forth. Does that work? -
swapped the fan plugs and now the front one is on.
so when i do home all, everything goes to where it is supposed to but the z is at 0 at the top, so it cant go lower right? shouldnt it home at 300 something? im having issues moveing the bed.
when i send a print the print head crashes for a bit, then it goes around like its printing but no fillament comes out.
Ran the M302 P1 and nothing happened.
