Sanity check: Duet 3 and BLTouch ground pinout?
-
Hello! I'm bumbling my way through setting up my Duet 3 in standalone on a new printer, and I wanted to double check that I'm not a moron. BLTouch has two grounds, and it looks like from the wiki that both should be on the same pin? Searching, I found lots of people talking about pinning out one of the grounds somewhere completely different on the board, but most of that was older and none whatsoever was on a Duet 3.

It’s up to you how you want to ground it. I found it easiest to just use the same pin at the crimp.
-
In my case I only connected one ground line to the Duet, the other one is dangling loose. I didn't have enough lines in my wire bundle to lead both to ground.
-
I did two for future proofing. Like the top pic.
Duet 3 instructions got put in the Wiki today, btw.
-
In all my searching I still haven't been able to find why it has two ground wires to begin with.

maybe because on most 8-bit boards the wiring would be split and by having one ground on each plug you ensure no stray potential in the event of a partial disconnect?
