@alankilian thanks again. I measure 1.08 V on #2 and -3.2V (negative) on #3.
@dc42 thank you too for stepping in. The SD card and the W5500 IC are not getting hot when powered, but the main processor indeed is getting quite hot.
I guess this means I have fried my Duet. I will try to summon the courage to replace the processor, then.

@alankilian thanks for the quick reply! Here is a close-up photo of U2 and U3.
Only two LEDs are lit, both red and solid: the one between the USB connector and the reset button (5V) and the one between the microSD card slot and the USB connector (diag led).
No 3.3V green LED.
I managed to upload the firmware once again, through Bossac. When I do that, and after I reset the board, the 5V LED still lights up solid, but the diag LED starts flashing really fast.

I have been using Duet stuff for quite some time now, but just now registered when (I think) I have just killed my Duet 2.
The thing is I have not followed the directions and fed 5V to the 3.3V rail by miswiring an external stepper driver to my Duet 2 Ethernet, through one of these things:
I know I should not have done that, as per these instructions, but, hey, I did it. People do stupid things. Yesterday was my turn.
Now my Duet is not working: it connects to USB, I could even reflash it through Bossac , but it gets too hot and it simply does not drive motors.
My question is: is there anything I can do about it, including soldering new components, or have I just acquired the most beautiful blue-colored decorative PCB there is?
