@Phaedrux sorry for the late reply.
Thats some copy/paste error. Its not in the config.g file

RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
So. After re-doing my config.g the Thermistor is working again and I finished some smaller prints without issue.
However, something is still not right.
I can boot up everything alright, but if I activate my filament sensor in config.g (duet magnetic filament sensor), DCS fails. Constantly.
If I update config.g and comment it out, I need to reboot/power cycle to get the machine working.
If I activate the filament sensor through the console in DWC, everything is fine. Same command. RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
@chrishamm Thats interesting.
The {1} lines are a by-product of copy/pasting I think, they are not in my original config.g on the Pi.
However, I deleted the empty lines just to be sure and commented out the M550.
Now it booted up.
After every change in config.g though, DCS would stop and take a while to reload.
Also, my hotend thermistor would not work anymore.
I tried a different one, factory new - same result.
I'm now trying to figure out what might be wrong with the config, since it worked before. Too much for today though. Gonna start fresh tomorrow:)Thanks for the help, much appreciated!

RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
Sorry for posting double...
So. I flashed the newest DuetPi from /testing, booted the printer up and wahooo! It works!
Uploaded my config.g - BAM. DCS has stopped.
On power cycling the whole machine, I get "DCS is not started" in DWC.
EDIT: Just noticed that, after sitting there for like 30s-1min with state "DCS is not started" it suddenly can connect - for close to a second, until DCS dies and DWC returns "DCS has been stopped" (cant connect to duet3.local)Can anyone check my config.g ? Is there something in there that kills DSC?!?!
-
RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
alright thanks for the input @Danal
I'll try the new DuetPi build first, then get to read up on bossa.
-
RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
Now it wont even work on the stable branch with a new SD and new image.
Guess its a local hardware problem then. -
RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
@chrishamm I'm using the official DuetPi image provided by duet3d âď¸
Journalctl reports the same "cannot connect to duet, cannot put into line mode"
Guess I'll revert to stable. Too bad, I like to love on the bleeding edge

RE: DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
@bearer thanks for the info. I just started the update and am stuck at "setting up RepRapFirmware"
Bah.Setting up reprapfirmware (2.1.1-1) ... [fatal] Could not connect to Duet (Error 16. Cannot put line into event mode.)
Now that's interesting. Cannot connect to duet?

DCS 2.1.0 fatal error, wont load up
Hey,
I recently updated to the newest unstable branch and since then I canât get my printer/the duet to boot up/work
I will attach my config.g
Heres what I did until now:
Upgraded exisiting installation. Not working, âDCS not startedâ or similar messages on the web control.Recreated the boot disc with newest image, updated to stable, than to unstable branch.
Using standard empty config.g: Works.
Using my config.g: no wayI have no idea yet why though.
Iâll attach the output from the debug command as well.
I strongly believe theres some gcode thats either gotten changed or has to be moved to a different spot?
Thanks in advance!!

RE: Print pause annoyance
I have had the same problem. I suspect a incorrect pause.g file, haven't dug deeper yet.

RE: Mag Filament sensor - config clarification.
@droftarts yea well, this is sooo embarassing...one crimp was bad, it got no contact on the pin. The front portion of it was flat instead of round ... idk how else to explain this.
Its on now, flashing different colors and reporting the angle correctly. Gonna try a print
Thanks for the help! Much appreciated. -
RE: Mag Filament sensor - config clarification.
@droftarts thanks for your reply!
I checked the assembly and could not find any fault. The bearings turn, the hobbed assembly turns, no blockage or anything.
Shall I attach some pictures of the sensor?
The LED is NOT flashing at all. Not at start-up. Not in red, nor green.
...looking at the picture from the docs again...is the magnet a separate part or is it included in the hobbed assembly part?
I'll edit the post within the next two hours and re-check the magnet - there was no extra part that registered as a magnet to me, so maybe its gone missing? -
RE: Mag Filament sensor - config clarification.
Thats wired the same as my own. However, its not working.
Sounds like a defective unit to me, tbh.
@dc42 @droftarts any ideas? -
RE: Mag Filament sensor - config clarification.
@Garfield Thanks for the heads up!
However, despite being wired correctly (according to your wiring...the only one that really makes any sense shrug) its not working.
The LED on the sensor does NOT light up when extruding filament.
The print stops after priming with the error message âextruder 0 reports too little movementâ (or something like that)
I tried io6, io8 and io5.
My wiring again is as follows:Sensor - Duet 3
PIN OUT to io5.in
PIN 3.3V to 3.3V on io5
PING GND to GND on io5The âno data receivedâ message on M591 D0 stays the same, always. While idle and while priming.
I tested my wires, those should be OK. (Give a beep when using a multimeter to test)This is my M591 from config.g
code_text ;Filament sensor M591 D0 S1 P3 C"io5.in" R70:130 L24.8 E3.0 ; Duet3D magnetic filament sensor cross-connected to io5.in```
Iâm out of ideas.```

RE: Mag Filament sensor - config clarification.
@Garfield @dc42
Can any of you clarify on the correct wiring for a Duet 3?
I have mine connected as follows:
Sensor - Duet
3.3V to 3.3V
GND to GND
OUT to IO_6.inAccording to the dozuki you need to use a cross-over connection, however in my uneducated mind that doesnât really makes any sense?
I tried putting GND to IO_6.in and OUT to GND but got no response from the Sensor as well....âNo data receivedâ
M591 D0
Duet3D rotating magnet filament monitor v1 on pin io6.in, enabled, sensitivity 24.80mm/rev, allow 70% to 130%, check every 3.0mm, no data receivedAny advice is greatly appreciated!

@Ntrack you are talking about R
Yes, a micro servo. I have some 10V 220uF capacitors. Do I need bigger capacitance or voltage rating ?
How micro? My suggestion of 220uF was for a MG996R, which isn't exactly micro.
Hey,
would I need that capacitor for a MG996 on a Duet 3? Better safe than sorry?
Thanks. -

@dc42 said in Fried 6R8 inductor and Z1284PI - why? Wiring problems:
I am sorry to hear of your misfortune. The Z1284 is the 5V buck regulator ship, and the 6R8 inductor is the output inductor connected to that chip.
We'd like to get the board returned to us for analysis. Which country are you in? We'll also provide you with a replacement under warranty. Please get in touch with your supplier for this.
I'm from Germany and got the board directly from you guys. I'll gladly send it back to you. Thanks!

Fried 6R8 inductor and Z1284PI - why? Wiring problems
Alright people, it seems I got lucky and fried at least two chips on my glorious Duet 3 6HC.
However, I donât know WHY.
The board was running in an earlier configuration, however some things did not work.- Z motors
- Extruder motor
- Hotend fan
- X/Y endstops
X/Y motors were working and turninf correctly, according to the move test macro.
Iâm quite sure that the steppers are wired correctly and that the Z motors are not turning because of a missing probe/endstop.
Wbat I didnât understand is a) the hotend fan and b) the endstops
Lets start with the fan.
Itâs plugged into OUT2. (In OUT1 is the heater cartridge, 24V40W, genuine E3D â which works. The Thermistor in Temp1 also works â hotend side. Not bed.)
The fan wonât run though. Itâs the fan that is supplied by E3D with their Hemera hotend. 24V.The endstops are wired like in the documentation (NC I think?) and are the same as in the official BOM. Those would not be detected. I have them plugged intp IO_1/2 with the wires on: red 3.3V blk GND and red 3.3V blk io_X.in â and in neither configuration would they be detected. M119 said âno endstopsâ.
Up to this point the board worked with above exclusions.
Heres what I did:
I junpered OUT4-6 to 24V (donât ask me why. I suppose I thought maybe OUT1-3 would be affected as well, but the heater worksâŚwhich is 24VâŚ.sooooâŚ
I switched the red/blk wire in the plug on OUT2 thinking that they might be wrong. However, if they would be wrong I guess the fan would turn the wrong direction?
I switched one of the two endstops to blk GND and red 5VMaybe 10 seconds after booting up I heard a noise, went to lookâŚsmelled something funny..saw a chip glowing red and immediately switched off power. A second later the chip FLEW off the board.
Does anyone have ANY idea what could have caused this?
Fried chips are 6R8 (inductive something) and Z1284PIâŚdunno what that is.Summary of plugged in stuff:
steppers on DRIVE0_5
Heater cartridge on OUT1
Hotend fan on OUT2
Hotend Thermistor on temp1
Endstop Y on IO_2 (3.3V/IO1.IN)
Endstop X on IO_3 (5V/GND)
RPi 4 as SMBThanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Stefan
