Hi dc42, thanks so much for wasting your time with such noob questions - I am sure it was discussed earlier and I apologize - tried to quickly look it up, but didnt find the exact answer - thanks so much for clearing this up to me.
Yes, its clear to me that a buck converter would work in general - only question to me is - will this work with the temperature control too ? e.g. the temperature control only switches the fan on and off, but not with different fan speeds?

Max PWM Value for temp controlled chamber fan?
Hi,
I would like to upgrade my current 12V System (Linear Kossel Plus with Duet Maestro) to 24V.
Got everything prepared - good new 24V MeanWell PSU, new fans for the hotend, reminded myself of changing the smart effector jumper, switched heating capsule and edited my Lights makro to use S115 instead of S255 - should be roughly 12V for my LEDs connected to the heater pins.
Last thing remaining is the temperature controlled chamber fan - is there any way to set a max pwm value of ~50% too ?
It is currently set up with
M106 P1 S0 I0 F20000 H103 H45:55 ; Set fan 0 value - chamber fanThanks Oliver
Edit says : As far as I understand this, hooking a buck down only for the chamber fan won`t be ideal for the temp controlled fan ?! Probably best solution is to just replace the fan with a 24V version too !?

Volcano useful in my case (SmartEffector upgrade ongoing)?
Hello all,
I am unsure whether a possible update is worth it or not - I dont want to annoy anybody or waste someones time - this is not a "real" support-case for duet-related electronics, although close knowledge about the smart-effector will provide a more sane opinion, than I probably have.
Please just disregard/delete/move this post if it is in the wrong section here - thank you =).
Current situation :
I could buy a used Anycubic Linear Kossel Plus, that was modded nicely and prints nicely. It has a Duet2Maestro already, and the previous owner switched to an AC Bed with 6mm plane Aluminium Base, with SSR and a 12V PSU. Currently it has complete stock rods, rod-ends and effector though.
I already have the new SmartEffector here now, waiting for Haydn Huntleys Rods and MagBalls to arrive and I am now wondering, if it would be worth it to switch to a volcano-hotend - I have one here - or rather go with standard e3d.
Questions are : Does it make sense to run a Volcano with 12V-40W Heater - I read in the forums, the trace on the smart effector is meant to be used with up to 4A Max - I suppose a 12V-50W one is not the best idea!?
Is it worth it to replace the 12V Silent-PSU with a 24V one to be able to use a 24V 50W Heating-capsule? The previous owner has already done led lighting and thermistor controlled chamber fan with 12V leds + fan - so I would have to take this into account too ..
My main goal is achieve highest possible speed/quality with standard materials that dont need temps > 250 - is the normal E3D a bottleneck in this situation at all? I think the linear rails/magball-rods combination, together with well set-up belts and settings should allow for pretty nice speeds shouldnt it?
For the hotend, I would have good fans here for both voltages though - these needn`t be taken into account..
Thanks for reading and for any opinion

RE: Need the type-name of the Smart-Effector 8Pin Connector
TY
I ordered the correct one (hopefully :D) in the meantime. -
Need the type-name of the Smart-Effector 8Pin Connector
Hi,
unfortunately, the white 8-pin-connector, that should have been with the accessories of my Smart-Effector, was missing in my shipment - can sb please provide the exact naming of that type?
Thanks

RE: Need help : MagBalls+Smart-Effector for AC LinearKosselPlus
thanks a lot for the very detailed answer
Yep - I want to put in haydns rods and magballs also - just wanted to make sure, the 288mm set is the correct one - I assumed this myself also before .. but just wanted to make this safe ;D
Since the volcano fits the normal heatsink, it should fit, I will just lose 2 cms build-height - but thats worth it to me -
Need help : MagBalls+Smart-Effector for AC LinearKosselPlus
Hello everybody
I could use some assistance, regarding a modified Anycubic Linear Kossel Plus Delta, that I bought in used, modified state. It already has a Duet2 Maestro and I have been able to print with it already (went through the very informative Guides).
Now I would to upgrade to Haydn Huntleys MagBallArms and Smart-Effector, the printer currently still uses stock rods, rod-ends and effector(with hotend). Also : is there anything that would speak against using a volcano hotend with the smart-effector ?
Are there any users, who have done the same and could provide exact info regarding required rod-length, correct rod-spacing etc. and good stls to mount proper radial fans and 40mm cold-end fans?BTW : duet3d.com down?
Best regards & thx in advance, Oliver
