I tried doing the same thing and gave up. Now I use a BL Touch and it works good enough although not as repeatable as a good old fashioned micro switch. Never bothered to make a servo to deploy because at the end of the day they are 3D printers not milling machines and they do not need the accuracy. Yet…....

They donated the starting code as far as I can tell, Ultimaker also supports it.

I have been doing a bit of reading and can find no concrete answers of its intended use. ( http://3mf.io/ ) There seems to be printers that support this file format directly. It looks like these do, Mcor IRIS and Mcor ARKe. It maybe too much for the Duet but who knows? It would open up great new possibilities if it did…...

Is there any chance of us being able to use 3MF files? I am building a 6 color setup with my Duet Wifi and expansion board and seems like having color information would be a great benefit.

Never did from day one. The 5v power supply I use is rated for 1.8A and will charge my LG V20 in less than 45 minutes from dead.

So I need to supply 5V to the panel and the Duet independently? I had a 1.8A wall wart plugged into the Duet and the Panel was flickering. Should it run from a single USB connection? The print went to 100% as soon as the main power was removed.

Tried to pause a print as suggested and it does not work. 5v does keep the Duet powered but not the display properly (7"), but the heater goes into fault and print ends. I guess I should have tried it before needing it. 14+ hours of printing….............down the drain DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME IT DOES NOT WORK.

I would still try a micro switch maybe the relectivity is different on various parts of the bed and it looks like you have PEI on the bed as do I, which made my IR probe unreliable and stopped me from using it. Or if you have something that is perfectly flat not to shiny, not clear and fits on the bed, like painted flat black glass, then rerun the probing routine with coordinates that fit, or not, as long as it will not hit anything ie thin. Then see if the results are the same or different. Until you know for absolute certainty what it is not you will not find out what it is. I try to live by that rule because every time I "think" I know what it isn't it bites me in the arse! 50ish years fixing stuff you pick up a thing or two.

Power failure is for me not an issue as I have a UPS. I would imagine to have a power failure option the print would have to run directly off the micro sd card and have some type of placeholder monitor each step of the print, unless there is some type of non volatile memory on board. Some printers can do it but not sure how they implement it. Would it really require re homing if the board remained powered, providing nothing moved? The long term "pause" would be, for me, a great option. I don't think any part of these printers are safe enough to leave unattended. Mosfet, relays, and SSR's can all fail to the closed position and overheat hotends and heat beds. I use 2 on each circuit now 1 on the hot and 1 on the neutral or ground so if one fails the other will still turn it off. But it also means that you have to check them regularly. I think that, but I could be wrong, the Duet Wifi can turn off the power supply in a thermal runaway situation provided that the power supply has remote turn on feature and you don't get a faulty temp sensor reading. Sure people do it, but really most of this stuff is cheap Made in China crap (Duet not included in that list) with no real regard for human safety. I guess I could build a steel box lined with fire brick and have an automatic sprinkler system installed…...

What type of probe are you using? I was getting crazy numbers until I used a tiny micro switch

DC42 my prints stick almost too good at times and retract is not an issue, Print head will not move and as for priming maybe just move to extreme xyz cooridinates of choice after power up and reheat, starting with last known position, would solve that issue. As for doing it now you would have to know last x y and z position and that is a huge PITA to do on a regular basis.

Is there a way ti implement a pause and restart even after power down or loss? I don't like to leave my printer running while I am sleeping for fear of waking up in a fire! It seems like it should not be that hard to do. That would be at the top of my wishlist!

Actually I take some of that back! It still seems like it is taking extremely course steps, so much so that the table and build plate are vibrating. If you look close the build plate you can see it. The belts and fasteners are tight yet it is cogging badly at slow speeds. Is there a way to access the stepper drivers directly to tune them? I will try to post a video in a bit.

Turns out I had 2 torn belts! Stupid Chinese washers with sharp edges.

How do I enable x256?

Simpify3d, not easy to start using but the option for improving prints makes it worth it if you have good hardware. Most everything it does can be done editing G code but who want to do that for every print!

Whew! How about interpolation? It appears the chip does.

What is the accuracy of the piezo probe? Pics?
